The Potwar Plateau in Punjab, Pakistan, represents an important Lower Paleolithic archaeological region of South Asia. Major archaeological localities associated with the region include Pabbi, Riwat, Baliwal and Adiala. These sites are situated within the Soan River system and have yielded Paleolithic lithic assemblages, including cores, flakes, choppers, scrapers and other stone tools, generally associated with Pleistocene river-terrace and gravel deposits. The exact age of occupation is not sufficiently established for these localities, and no securely associated hominin fossils have been identified.
